Mix - Objects & Innards at the Shallow End.
Words. Cannot. Even. Brain. Oof. I am overwhelmed. I will sleep and try to be more coherent tomorrow. I will also try to gather up another batch of links and commentary so that everyone can have a good cross-section of what people are saying.
For now, thank you so much for your support, and your EXCELLENT debate. I’m so happy to see people discussing concepts of acceptance and beauty. People are making incredible and astute points about the dialogue that is opening up.
Somebody even started a poll about the effectiveness of my project! You can vote yay or nay here.
Much, much, much love to all y’all.
For the ballsy and brilliant extrawiggleroom, the jackasses at American Apparel and everybody who’s got a body that came with a thinking part attached… Or at least ears. Enamored, outraged and amused, these are the places my brain goes

Acid Glasses - Jpeg Hoarder
Acid Glasses: Jpeg Hoarder. Favorite find so far today…
’My Pale Garden’ was either going to prompt a glut of joy or a trip to the nearest bin to throw up in - Acid Glasses seemed outset on splitting opinion. But ‘Jpeg Hoarder’, without calling it accessible, is a sweeter beast, far more capable of clattering a few skeptical heads together and declaring them converted. A consistent, battering bass-line softens your ears as several drifting, ambient sounds etch away at the song’s core.
Jpeg Hoarder comes out as part of a double-A side single with Strollon Records

New Album: DUDES - NARCISSISTS ANONYMOUS
Ryan from self-confessed “neo-funk-chill-psych-swag-goth-wave” three-piece DUDES, based in San Diego, sent over their first official EP “NARCISSISTS ANONYMOUS” on Monday night. This is set to be a huge cassette for any fans of Small Black, AnCo or even Toro Y Moi - blending the noisier elements of the three to make for a glitch-ridden and delay-heavy proximate of over-driven trip-hop.
Accompanying the release is a 90s style role playing game eponymously titled DUDES, which is worth a mention for the innovative marketing strategy alone.
The musical side of things however, don’t falter - ‘TURF TALK (SWAG EDIT MIX)’ is a soulful 70s disco ballad with a squealing lead, and the Galapagos remix of ‘1/5 OF THE DRIVES ON TOUR’ is a 106 second ambient sample jam as much as a big name collaboration for DUDES to name-drop. I’ve attached 5 minute song and title track ‘NARCISSISTS ANONYMOUS’ below, an airy 70s ballad with horns, soft synthesisers and some very colourful hip-hop beats. The colour associations I get with this music is overwhelmingly grey-scale, nostalgic and dream-like in its array of trippy spoken word loops which are constantly making their way in and out of time with the rest of the music.
Download ‘NARCISSISTS ANONYMOUS’ in EP form at Bandcamp, find out more about the video game here, or buy your own cassette, shipping on or around the 1st of August, via Grizzly Records.

Summer Sunday Supplemental Mix.
What better to do with a Sunday you feel like barely moving than lazily make a mix? Not a thing I can think of, so here you go…
From the latest mp3 hunt and an other mix or two. Most notable thankses to doubledrat, yvynyl & idontlikeyourtunes, fellows with unfailingly fine taste.

Not Squares - Asylum
http://notsquares.bandcamp.com/
Lookit who released a proper album while I was hibernating this winter… Drowned in Sound gives ‘em a 5/10. Haven’t been near as blown away by anything else I’ve heard so far, but reckon I’ll be showering them with euros simply because this exists. I hope they use the cash to throw dance parties. And share with their vid dude.
